Filing an Insurance Claim

We know how complex and time consuming filing an insurance claim can be. That’s why we are committed to streamlining the process to make it as efficient and straightforward as it can possibly be. By utilizing the same software used by most insurance companies to itemize damage done to the roof or exterior, we create comprehensive estimates and are able to provide information to these companies clearly and in their own language. We specialize in handling insurance claims from start to finish which is why no matter what step of the insurance process you are in, we can help make it an efficient and successful endeavor.

By faxing your detailed claim summary information to us at 1-307-638-3887 or emailing us at info@capitolroofinginc.com, you can expedite your roofing repair or installation.

The following is a step-by-step guide to filing an insurance claim:

  1. Make a list – Make a list of visual damages. Things to look for include: dents in gutters; fascia and metal around windows; broken flowerpots; and damage to lawn furniture. As a good rule of thumb... if there is damage to your car, then there is damage to the roof. Also, an excellent way to preliminary assess roof damage without physically getting on the roof is to look for granules in the gutter after a rain.
  2. Report the damage/make an appointment – Contact your insurance agent to report hail, wind or physical damage to your home or building. If damage from a storm was wide spread, there will most likely already be insurance adjusters in your area. An insurance adjuster will usually schedule an appointment to come to your property within 48 hours for an assessment.
  3. Contact Capitol Roofing – Contact us to meet with the insurance adjuster at the assessment. This creates accountability on both sides to determine claim damage and estimate work. It can also considerably simplify the claims process and allow for quicker repairs. If a roofing contractor is not present at the time of the insurance adjuster's inspection, some items could inadvertently be left off the Statement of Loss. This would result in the need for supplementation to capture a full scope of work. For this reason, we highly recommend having your roofing contractor present for this appointment to avoid misunderstandings and to speed up the restoration of your home or building.
  4. Be at the appointment – Make certain you are present for the appointment with your insurance adjuster and roofing contractor, and bring your list of damages. Both parties will guide you through the process.
  5. Get the estimate – A Statement of Loss will be provided by the insurance adjuster (either that day or by mail.) It serves to itemize the losses and estimate the cost of repair. This outlines what work the insurance company is willing to pay to restore your property back to its original condition before damages occurred.
  6. Hire Capitol Roofing – Contact us as soon as possible to schedule your project. If not us, make sure you hire a professional licensed and insured roofing contractor. By choosing Capitol Roofing, you'll get all that along with a closed insurance claim, necessary paperwork, completion documents, and warranty information.
